Responsible for: Assisting with the smooth running of the show, to include both technical public facing aspects.

Reports to: Venue Manager

Main Purpose of Job: To promote high standards of professional practice which are conducive to providing an excellent experience for performers and audience, through provision of technical services combined with front of house tasks.

Key accountabilities: 

  • To ensure high standards of show sound and light provision whilst following in-house procedures and policies, that technical riders are delivered and to liaise with performers to ensure their requirements are met or exceeded.
  • To maintain, store, install and strike equipment in a safe and timely manner and take all reasonable measures to ensure the safety of fellow staff and patrons of The Stand.
  • To ensure disturbances to the show are minimised.
  • To aid the duty manager in the seating of audiences and to clear tables/ spillages as required.

General Duties

  • To operate all provided technical equipment requisite to the performance
  • To keep your work area clean and tidy during trading hours
  • To uphold good housekeeping practices and ensure all spills trips and hazards are quickly and effectively dealt with
  • To wear on shift any items of staff uniform provided. Employees are required to wash their own uniform
  • To comply with all duties outlined in operational policies
  • To comply and uphold all infectious disease policies and processes set out (training provided)
  • Being an ambassador for the The Stand Comedy Club at all times

 

 

Show Preparation

  • To be aware of any specific technical requirements for any given show and be prepared to meet them
  • To be aware of running order for any given show
  • To make the Duty Manager aware of any issues you may be having pre-show technically, bill-wise or with members of the audience
  • To liaise with duty manager at the beginning of shift re. any special requirements for the show or seating reservations required
  • To greet the customers and performers in a friendly manner
  • To seat customers where necessary and maintain the floor plan and its setting for the show
  • To ensure private areas are kept private with no unauthorised entry
  • To assist and advise customers of any infectious disease restrictions and protocols
  • To follow and to be seen to be following good hygiene standards at all times

 

During The Show

  • To provide sound/light/visuals as required for the performance in a professional and courteous manner
  • To be prepared for and to work round any equipment failures
  • To ensure no unauthorised recording or photography of performances is taken
  • To assist in keeping the audience from disrupting the show

 

Post Show

  • To strip and put away any equipment belonging to The Stand Comedy Club
  • To notify the Duty Manager of any faults or repairs required to equipment

 

Technical

  • To liaise with acts and ensure music, projection or special requests are accommodated wherever possible.
  • To test and prepare any equipment required for individual shows.
  • To ensure all equipment is safe to use and PAT tested where appropriate.
  • To maintain a tidy and well stocked tech area, ensuring that all equipment is accessible and ready for use.
  • To ensure floorplan and signage complies with current legislation and to discuss any concerns with the Venue Manager

 

Additional duties

  • To make appropriate announcements before, during and after the show
  • To keep your work area clean and tidy during trading hours
  • To uphold good housekeeping practices and ensure all spills trips and hazards are quickly and effectively dealt with
  • To have knowledge and understanding of the evacuation procedure and in the event of an evacuation perform those duties required of you in a timely manner
  • To have a full knowledge and understanding of health and safety requirements and to report any potential hazards to Venue managers
  • To comply and uphold all infectious disease policies and processes set out (training provided)
  • To comply with all duties outlined in operational policies
  • To wear on shift any items of staff uniforms provided. Employees are required to wash their own uniform
  • Being an ambassador for the The Stand Comedy Club at all times
  • You may also be required to undertake any reasonable task asked of you
