Award winning Scottish comedian and historian of Scottish history Daniel Downie is a self-confessed whisky baw-bag! Indulge him as he delves into the fascinating and hilarious history around one of his, and Scotland’s, greatest passions, whisky. This is his show about 'drams' and 'dramas' - the two after all often go hand-in-hand!

On the Mountebank Comedy Whisky Tasting you will enjoy a flight of four delicious malt whiskies, each from a different distilling region of the country and each specifically curated to highlight the depth and difference of flavour whisky can offer. You will learn about the distilling process, as well as the fascinating history of whisky and its cultural significance to Scotland and its people. **About Your Guide **

Your guide on the Mountebank Whisky Tasting is Edinburgh based professional Scottish stand-up comedian and historian Daniel Downie - and his trusty K9 side kick Brahan aka 'The Bonnie Prince! Daniel is a professional comedian with over a decade's experience and is also a historian in Scottish History with a Master’s degree in Scottish history from the University of Dundee. In 2019 Daniel launched the Mountebank Comedy Walk of Edinburgh which quickly became the top-rated experience in Edinburgh and was placed in Trip Advisors Top Ten Experiences in the UK one of only two Scottish experiences on the list. In 2025 Daniel launched his Comedy Whisky Tasting highlighting the distilling process of Scotch Malt Whisky intertwined with the proud history of whisky production in Scotland all washed down with a flight of four delicious whiskies from each corner of Scotland!**

Daniel has brought several sell-out shows all about Scotland to the Edinburgh Fringe, is a regular on the Scottish Comedy circuit and has a popular podcast all about Scotland’s history, the Mountebank History of Scotland podcast.
