Involuntary celibates (incels) are an online community of young men who believe that their biology has rendered them scientifically unf**kable and, because of this, they can never attract a romantic or sexual partner. With the rest of the community backing them up, like a terrible support group, they become increasingly spiteful. Inceldom has been linked to misogyny, harassment and, in some instances, extreme violence. Dr David Smith (Robert Gordon University) reveals what he learned from ex-incels. How did they join? Why did they stay? And how did they leave?
