Due to the global pandemic of COVID-19 and the Edinburgh Fringe Festival Society's cancellation of this year’s event (alongside all the other Edinburgh August festivals and many other flagship festivals around the UK), it is with a heavy heart that The Stand Comedy Club is also cancelling productions which were due to be performed in August 2020 at Stand 1, 2, 3, 4 and The Stand’s New Town Theatre.
The Stand makes a firm commitment to supporting artists, staff and customers and will continue to follow government advice to ensure that all are as safe as possible at any of our venues. The Stand has been in touch with all acts, agents, staff, venues and customers to make them aware of the changes.
The Stand would like to thank every person involved - however large or small a part they may have played - in working with us on what would have been a breakthrough programme of events this summer.
We will start programming for 2021 earlier than ever and applications will most likely be accepted from August 2020. Further information will be displayed when confirmed.
Shows which were scheduled for Fringe 2020 will be asked if they wish to submit for 2021 again and further information will follow in the coming months.
Please bear with us during this unprecedented time as staff of The Stand Comedy Club are currently working from home and on paid leave, so we may not be able to respond quickly to queries, but we will respond and send further information as we have it in the coming months.
Thank you for your time, creativity and commitment to performing or buying a ticket to see a show with us at Fringe 2020.
The Stand hopes that everyone can stay as safe as possible during this time of global crisis and that we’ll work together again following what feels like the pressing of the global reset button.
Take care and stay safe,
The Stand Comedy Club
