Mark Watson: The Infinite Show

Sunday 10th March 2019

Cluster-bombed with yoghurt on 'Taskmaster', half-killed on 'Bear Grylls' Celebrity Island', Watson returns to what he's best at: being indoors.
Inspired by the mostly alarming state of the world his children are growing up in, and a genuine, urgent desire to do something about it, this show is about empathy.
99 percent of the world's population is made up of other people: why can't we understand them?
As scrawny and impassioned as ever, one of the UK's most beloved and thinnest acts offers some suggestions, with his usual notoriously high joke-and-rant-per-minute rate.
'He sparkles with originality and verve' Chortle
'A kind of unstoppably funny Superhero' Sunday Times
'Hugely entertaining, craftsmanlike, remarkable' Telegraph

Mark Nelson: Brexit Wounds

Friday 15th March 2019

As we leave the EU, the award-winning stand-up equally renowned for his brilliantly dark material, appearances on Radio and TV as for his viral creation “News at 3” (180+ million views!) offers up his unique view on the state of the world.
‘An unquestionably talented writer and performer… knack for making people laugh about things they know they really shouldn’t laugh about… Pithy-but-charming delivery, great jokes, and lots of them.’ Telegraph
‘Profoundly hilarious… possesses a talent that is simply obscene… This is irreverence done right.’ **** List
‘Blistering material which pushes dangerously near the boundaries of good taste’ Sunday Times

Darren Connell - Abandon All Hope

Friday 15th March 2019

Star of Scot Squad, Darren Connell returns to the Glasgow Comedy Festival at the venue that gave him his first ever gig so many years ago.
Nominated for a BAFTA, Darren is best known for portraying the lovable Bobby Muir on BBC Scotland. Dark, twisted and hilarious, prepare to see Darren as you’ve never seen him before. Dry, surreal and stripped back stand-up comedy. Who knows what issues Connell will raise in his latest show, Abandon All Hope.

Gareth Waugh - Oh Boy...!

Saturday 16th March 2019

Scotland’s widely tipped next break-through comedy star brings his evolving show about the Law of the Playground, traveling companions from hell and accidentally fulfilling your teenage bucket list (if you exclude the failed rap career). He’s sold out two Edinburgh fringe seasons (“Honestly!”) and also supported Tom Stade, Katherine Ryan and Daniel Sloss on tour in the UK and in Europe.
‘This is proper stand up…Excellent!’ (Broadway Baby)
‘Smart, witty... very funny!’ (Scotsman)

Justin Moorhouse - Northern Joker

Saturday 16th March 2019

These days Justin's not certain about anything apart from his uncertainty - Brexit looms, it appears the Cold War is being rebooted and that's before we begin to worry about what's happening in America... closer to home he's starting to feel redundant as a parent. One kid is leaving home, the dog is getting older and doesn't need much walking, and the youngest kid hists thirteen and cancels the family subscription to The Beano.
On top of this the golden age of the Northern straight white male comedian has gone the way of the dinosaurs. How will he adapt if he wants to survive? What next for this Northern Joker? What can he talk to his daughter about now she cares little for Dennis the Menace and the Bash St Kids?
Hang on.
Perhaps nothing has changed that much. When he was thirteen, the Russians were scary, the White House was a madhouse and he'd never been to Europe anyhow. Thinking back this was when his reading habits changed too, more Dark Knight than Desperate Dan, more Catwoman than Minnie the Minx. Perhaps our heroes never went away... they just waited for us to pick them up again. Perhaps she just needs a different type of comic.
'He charms the pants off the crowd' Sunday Times
'Comedic tour-de-force... brough a tear to a critical glass eye' Herald
'Simulataneously down-to-earth and out of this world' List
'The amount of first-rate comic craft that goes into his deceptively simple routines is worthy of admiration' Guardian

Paul Sinha: The Two Ages of Man

Monday 18th March 2019

Paul returns to Glasgow with his life, seemingly, still bordering on disarray. Having spent two decades juggling disparate careers, loneliness, heartbreak, a multitude of vices and an overwhelming urge to show off his general knowledge, he finds that just as one problem disappears, another emerges. Paul is 48 and is pondering the unthinkable. Is he past it? Was Shakespeare wrong? Are there only Two Ages of Man?

Andy Zaltzman: The Bugle Live

Tuesday 19th March 2019

The hit global podcast comes to Glasgow for the first time, to address the world’s latest news with its trademark cocktail of incisive satire and premium-grade hogwash.
Hosted by Andy Zaltzman , with guests from around the world, The Bugle Live will address global, national and local stories, encompassing politics, science, sport, random nuggets of news, and outright lies.
The Bugle has been entertaining and misinformationalising hundreds of thousands of weekly listeners since 2007. Until 2015, it featured Andy alongside John Oliver. Since its 2016 relaunch, a worldwide cast of guest co-hosts (including Hari Kondabolu, Nish Kumar, Alice Fraser, Al Murray and Tom Ballard) has brought new life to one of the most enduringly successful comedy podcasts in the known universe.
WARNING: may also feature puns.

Jamie Dalgleish - From Buckfast to Middle Class

Monday 25th March 2019

You can take the boy from the council scheme, but you can't take the council scheme from the boy!
Fresh from a Sold-Out debut Edinburgh Fringe, the former Scottish Comedian of the Year's metamorphosis from chav/ned to having multiple degrees and a banking career will take you from his crazy upbringing to even crazier adulthood.
Just don't expect him to drop his Glesga accent or tonic wine habit.

'Dalgleish has a bright future in stand-up' Scotsman

JOHN ROBERTSON’S SWEATY SEXY PARTY PARTY

Monday 25th March 2019

John Robertson (creator of cult hit ‘The Dark Room’) used to plan his shows, but now, it’s party time.
Manic Australian comedian in a nice suit seeks audience for crowd surfs, late night bullshit, improvised anarchy and pointless songs all accompanied by the lusty guitar of gutsy blues genius Dr Blue.
It’s a concert. It’s a party. It’s a stand-up show. It’s a riot. It’s whatever we want to make it tonight.
« « « « « ‘Strides onstage giving precisely zero fucks’ Skinny
« « « « « ‘The glee he inspires in his audiences being that usually reserved for enigmatic cult leaders' ThreeWeeks
« « « « « ‘Sweaty Sexy Party Party will send you out into the night wondering what you’ve been a part of, but aching with laughter’ Broadway World
« « « « « ‘Robertson is a master of this style of tightly controlled anarchy’ One4Review

Julia Sutherland - Exposed

Tuesday 26th March 2019

Star of BBC Radio 4 and Radio Scotland, Julia has interviewed dozens of top comedians, digging deep into their psyches and asking them to share intimate and personal details from their lives.
Now, in this hilarious and unique stand-up show, she faces her toughest subject yet – herself! As she discovers, there's nothing more important than having the passion to follow your dreams, as well as the true Scottish attitude that "giving up isnae that bad either, so long as you're happy."

David Kay , as seen on The Alternative Comedy Experience: Comedy Central and heard as the reluctant wizard in Modrin McDonald 21st Century Wizard on BBC Radio 4.
Kay is the only comedian regularly performing scone based comedy anywhere in the world.
'Kay arrives looking as though he should be in an art school indie band yet talking as if he’s a senior citizen' Scotsman
Kay’s appeal comes from the leftfield, his ambling style has 'an uncanny ability to traverse normal boundaries between the weird and the familiar' Skinny
'wonderfully improbable' Scotland on Sunday

One last heave and we will be there. And when the going gets tough the tough get going. Although the going won’t get tough and anyone who tells you it is going to be tough is lying.
Come join me to marvel at the majesty of our green and pleasant land. A land globally renowned for our culture, history and places, like the world-famous Salisbury Cathedral.

Terry Alderton - Bi-Polar Guy

Friday 29th March 2019

It's the show they said would never happen! The incredible mind of Terry Alderton distilled into a thrilling hour of stand-up, songs and silliness. You've never seen anything quite like this before, you won't forget it and you won't be able to explain it afterwards. An unbelievable insight into the mind of a genius. Music by Grammy nominee Owen Parker.

Raymond Mearns - Confessions of A Control Freak!

Friday 29th March 2019

Nobody really wants to see a film or a play or read a book about a person who had a great life, successful in their career and lucky in love!
And whilst everybody would love to have that life, it's not very compelling! In fact, it's boring!!
It's far more interesting to hear about somebody who has made a rip-roaring arse of themselves and fucked everything up!
Just another day in the life of Raymond Mearns - an argumentative, raging, judgemental, grammar Nazi!
I might be wrong but I'll never admit it, these are all essential character defects for a successful career in stand-up comedy!
‘Improvisational genius’ Frankie Boyle.

Michelle McManus - Pop Goes the Idol

Sunday 31st March 2019

Presenter and singer Michelle’s latest show, co-written with Bruce Devlin , tells the next instalment in the Glasgow based life of a glittering global megastar.
From treading the SECC boards with The Hoff, opening Lidl in Rutherglen and to that one man who clapped her rendition of My Way in a Sauchiehall Street karaoke bar, Michelle has seen and done it all.
A hilarious evening with music you simply won’t want to miss.
