Stand-up comedian Si Beckwith has the same New Year’s resolution every year; ‘Get Lush’. Sometimes he fails at this, but he tries. This comedy show is about trying to be a little better, and why trying is what it’s all about. It’s a show about the joys of being working class, the struggles of being a ‘proper’ grown-up and a relentlessly honest hour of reflective comedy.
Expect jokes, stories and a lot of uses of the word ‘lush’. There’s also a bit with drawings. It’s mostly though, just a silly boy trying his hardest to hold himself to account.
‘Insanely comfortable delivering a headline set. Hard hitting at times, but delivered with silliness and in a deadpan manner, Beckwith’s set works because his stories are, mostly, relatable.’ NARC Magazine ‘Get Lush’ could mean going to the gym more, reading more books, or most often, just buying a leather jacket and some fags. Si Beckwith tries to do all of these things, and sometimes falls short, but he’ll get lush or, well not quite die trying, but probably get out of breath a bit.
