Gary Meikle - In Jail or Dead

Wednesday 1st March 2017

Gary Meikle previews his Fringe 2017 debut at The Glasgow Stand!
This show lays out how Gary defied the odds set against him from an early age, how he managed to survive the children’s homes he spent his formative years in without letting himself be forever brainwashed by the expectations of the staff there, who verbalised he’d either end up in jail or dead by the time he was 30.
In this show Gary bares all and takes you through his journey from how he ended up in care, to being homeless, becoming a dad and bringing up a daughter without her mum and rebuilding his relationship with his own mum.
It all sounds a bit sad eh?? Not the way he sees or tells it, that’s for sure.
Gary’s humour is playfully dark with sharp twists and peppered with uncompromising anecdotes.
Gary first took to the stage in 2013 and has risen through the ranks faster than most. His notable rise, plus his interesting past has led to features in national newspapers such as The Daily Record, and invites to talk shows with Kay Adams and also STV’s Late Show.
He is now in demand at some of the best comedy clubs both north and south of the border, so why not come along and see what all the fuss is about?
'Ingenious story telling' Chortle
'Following in the footsteps of Bridges' STV
'Go see him now whilst you can still afford to' Billy Kirkwood
