Patrick Monahan – Rewind Selector 90s

Sunday 15th April 2018

Brand new stand up show from multi award winning Patrick Monahan and inspired by his Irish/Iranian/Teeside teens in the 90's.
Identity cards, ‘Cool Britannia’, Drink and drugs and rock ‘n’ roll’ were some of the trademarks of the 1990's but for the Teetotal and drug free Monahan it was ‘cake and tea and R ‘n’ B!’
Monahan explores what life was like for teenagers in the 90’s growing up with their basic technology and compares the current problems teenagers face, such as faulty phone charger leads, dabbing and whether they should Instagram their dinner or just eat it! The 90’s teenagers didn't have to make many choices as there wasn't much to choose from!
The touring show is in two halves. Rewind Selector 90s is the second half and the first half is a club set coupled with fun audience participation set.
‘He really hits the mark…great depth’ ✭✭✭✭ BroadwayBaby
‘Thought provoking, hilarious. A Fringe Legend!’ ✭✭✭✭ Mirror
‘He has the dark looks and stubble of the Middle East, married to the charm of the Irish and the sense of fun of the Teessider. Omid Djalili meets Dave Allen’ Daily Mail

Rob Auton - The Hair Show

Monday 16th April 2018

A show for anyone who has, or has had, hair and hairs.
Award winning stand-up comedian and poet Rob Auton (Dave’s Funniest Joke Of The Fringe award winner, Glastonbury’s ‘Poet In Residence’) returns with another heart-felt and offbeat comedy/theatre/spoken word show that explores hair and hairs.
Rob casts an introspective eye over the world of hair, underpinned by leaving his head hair and beard to their own devices until he has performed The Hair Show for the final time. Join Rob as he explores the importance of appearance and how people react to someone who looks like he has checked out.
For the past five years Rob has used his command of words and distinctive unconventional humour to explore seemingly mundane subjects: sleep, water, faces, the sky and the colour yellow. These shows have given rise to a cult status at the Fringe. His unique world view has been acknowledged through being shortlisted for the prestigious Spoken Word Award by the Arts Foundation, receiving a Best Short Film nomination for the The Peamaster, which he co-wrote and starred in, at the Milan Film Festival.
Alongside performing solo, Rob hosts 'the best poetry gig in the UK' Times Bang Said The Gun. The spoken-word night’s raucous and anarchic spirit attracts a rich mix of new talent and some of the most established names in poetry/music including KATE TEMPEST, ROGER MCGOUGH and JOHN HEGLEY.
'A genuine original' Guardian
'One of my absolute favourites' Daniel Kitson
'His absurd brand of stand-up and poetry is exactly what the country needs right now' Huffington Post
‘Charming, eccentric and uplifting, Auton is a talent to watch’ Independent
'I haven’t seen anything else quite like it, or him' Stage

Carl Hutchinson - LIVE

Monday 23rd April 2018

One of the UK’s most in-demand comics Carl Hutchinson is set to perform his brand new show across the UK. Expect killer gags, highly entertaining stories and the trademark twisted logic that has made Carl a must-see fixture in the comedy world, it’s fair to say that 'Hutchinson has it all' BroadwayBaby
From tales of pulling sickies as a teacher to his family upbringing and wrestling with his favourite vices, this new show is easily the most brutally honest and hilariously self-deprecating outing for this Geordie comedian.
Chris Ramsey's tour support and as seen on Comedy Central's Stand Up Central & The Chris Ramsey show
‘An absolute must… the next big thing!’ Skinny
'Hutchinson’s trump card is the way he interacts with the audience, rolling with every ‘ooh’ and ‘aah’ his material generated, giving a dynamism and spontaneity to his performance' Chortle
'The comedy catalyst to a great night out' ThreeWeeks
