Susan Calman is on a savage
mission to help you to accept your flaws.
Deceptively innocent in appearance, Susan Calman is, in fact, a
small but savage comedian. Given the face-to-face atmosphere at
The Stand we warn the audience not to get too close. Susan
bites. |
Given the sharpness of the corporate lawyer she used to be, the natural
and brutally funny Glaswegian wit of her home city as well as her smart,
agile and rude persona, Susan's choice of switching law for comedy has
proved to be sound and in her first three years has proven to be one of
the fastest rising stars in comedy.
A good friend will tell you that she always thought the boyfriend who
slept with your sister looked shifty.
Susan will tell you that you let yourself go.
A work colleague will agree that your boss is a bastard.
Susan will tell you that you're a bit shit at your job.
Ever wondered why you're still single at 37?
Maybe you do frighten them off. Maybe, it is YOUR FAULT.
When something bad happens to you, it's all too easy to blame your
parents, your partner or Jodie Foster, instead of stepping back and
taking a long hard look at yourself. Susan wants to make you responsible
for your actions, acknowledge your failings, and take it like a
(Cal)Man. As a lawyer, she worked on America's Death Row, but now she
takes on her biggest challenge ever. Facing the truth.
So, who died and put Susan Calman in charge of the truth? The simple
answer is no-one – but she will take you on a rollercoaster journey of
highs and lows that will ultimately make you a better person and with
plenty of giggles along the way. A self-acknowledged incompetent
employee, rubbish girlfriend and appalling friend, she has faced up to
her flaws and wants to help you do the same. If for no other reason,
come and see the show in the name of Schadenfreude!
