High class, low cost comedy at the Heart Of The Fringe
The Seven Quid Comedy Cabaret, our co-production with our fellow
travellers from the heart of comedy, Manchester's Frog & Bucket
club, is our brand new, deluxe Ronseal of a night. |
As it says on its plush, velvety, definitely not tin, lid: It only costs
£7, it is comedy and it is cabaret. We probably should have put the word
'excellent' in too but that would just have been unwieldy. With ticket
prices in certain sectors of The Fringe skyrocketing past normal
pocket-friendly prices, The Stand sticks by its policy of putting on the
highest quality comedy at the lowest cost to Joe and Joanna Punter,
making the Seven Quid Comedy Cabaret one of the best value for money
shows at the entire Festival. Four brilliant acts for the price of far
less than one at some places we could mention...
It's a perfectly timed 10.30pm kick off in the company of...
Kevin Bridges, who started stand up shortly after his 17th
birthday, has shot through the ranks of the Scottish comedy scene. He
regularly works all over Scotland, most notably at the Stand comedy
clubs where he is a regular headliner, support and resident compere of
his own monthly show.
Dan Nightingale is one of stand-up's brightest stars. A natural,
mesmerising performer; a total original and the most exciting secret in
comedy. Dan combines cutting observation with his natural playfulness,
raucous banter with beautiful surrealness, great gags with heartfelt
ramblings. His comedy is genuine, creative, honest, unpredictable,
original and above all… funny.
Wendy Wason A comedian and actress, Wendy's credits range from
NBC's Last Comic Standing to Midsomer Murders. With a quirky and very
funny naturalistic comedic delivery, she has made appearances in many
comedy shows including Broken News (BBC2) and The IT Crowd (Channel 4).
Quirky, original and hugely watchable.
Jason Cook Be ready for pretty much anything when Jason Cook
takes to the stage. Behind his cheerful Geordie exterior lurks a dark,
sharp comedic mind capable of taking an unsuspecting audience to places
they didn't want to go. Also check out his solo show, here at The Stand,
Joy.
