Rowan Campbell is a
Scottish based Australian who
arrived at stand up comedy relatively late in life, doing
his first gig ever aged 29 at The Stand in Edinburgh
back in early 2005.
Already a regular comedy
club punter, and suffering from a profound lack of direction in
life, Rowan had an epiphany... "the real world sucks...I wanna
be a Stand Up" .
Luckily his natural talents and
life experiences prior to Stand Up have equipped him well for a
career in comic observation, and he has continued to go from
strength to strength. His material is wide ranging, well crafted
and superbly delivered and he has enviable vocal control and
mastery of accents.
In his first month of comedy he
won The Big Tickle Comedy Festival Competition in Derry
N.Ireland, and later the same year was a semi-finalist in The
Edinburgh festival's So You Think You're Funny comp. He now
realises competitions suck unless you win them.
Since then he has been a regular
at The Stand Comedy Clubs , has appeared in the 2006 Glasgow
Comedy Festival sell-out show "4 men and a little lady", and you
may also have seen him make appearances at Edinburgh Fringe
clubs in '05 and '06 such as Spank!, The Phatcave, The FreeBeer
Show, Comedy 4 kids (!), Peter Buckley-Hill and some comedians
(guest compere 3 times) or rocking comedy nights all over
Scotland, London and Northern Ireland and The Guiness Laughter
Lounge, Barcelona..
" Demonstrative and full of energy
on stage...Campbell stood up and delivered in style...the belly
laughs kept coming so fast that tears were starting to
flow...you could travel a long way to see this guy and you
wouldn't be disappointed." The Times*
"Great energy, good material,
fantastic delivery, shit haircut." Chortle.co.uk
" Shit! I ain't goin' on now...the
muthaf**ka's are yellin' "we want Rowan Campbell back!" "
